The Application is Now Available!

Although the application became available yesterday, you shouldn’t feel pressured to submit it right away. You will have plenty of time to work on it over the next several months. If you’re a freshman applicant, I recommend that you take a look at the application soon to familiarize yourself with the required components. Make sure to check the USC Supplement, some majors require portfolios or have audition requirements that take time to prepare.  I think it is a good idea to use September and October to think about how you are going to present yourself in your application, write your essay and gather all the required documents. Then buckle down and wrap up your application before the December 1stMerit-Based Scholarship Deadline (also the deadline for some Cinema, Dramatic Arts and Music programs). The final deadline for admission is January 10th, so you could also wait until January to submit your application, but you wouldn’t be considered for any merit-based scholarships.

The Application Timeline:

August 1st – Common Application and USC Supplemental Application available

December 1st – Deadline for Merit-Based Scholarship consideration (also the deadline for some Cinema, Dramatic Arts and Music programs)
January 10th – Final Application Deadline

Tick Tock… the December 1st Deadline is Almost Here!

The December 1 merit scholarship deadline is fast approaching and we already have completed applications in our system that we’re hard at work reviewing!  We expect to receive an influx of applications over the next few days and our entire staff- from the mailroom to the application readers- are gearing up for the “busy season.”

If you are a first-year applicant that would like to be considered for the merit scholarships that we award, you need to submit your Common Application and USC Supplement by December 1st.  The final deadline to apply to USC is January 10, 2013.

Some of our talent-based programs have an application deadline of December 1st, as well:

          – All majors within the School of Cinematic Arts

          – All applicants to the Bachelor of Fine Arts programs within the School of Dramatic Arts

          – All majors within the Thornton School of Music

          –  All applicants to the World Bachelor in Business program within the Marshall School of Business

Keep in mind that many of USC’s programs require supplemental materials in order to apply.  Review the USC Supplement Instructions to make sure you have completed all necessary materials for your intended major.

Now is a great time to finish your application, double check everything, and submit it.  Don’t wait until the last possible second to review your application!  I’m sure you want to spend your Saturday doing something much more fun than re-reading your college essay.

While we never expect students to experience technical difficulties with their application, sometimes things don’t always go as planned.  If you experience technical difficulties with the Common Application or USC Supplement at any point, you can contact the Common App Support Center.  However, if you have questions about USC or the admission process, you can contact our office Monday through Friday during business hours at 213-740-111.

Best of luck submitting your application by the December 1st deadline!
